Wind gong being gently played in the sunshine

Sound meditation is an immersive experience that uses the power of sound to facilitate deep relaxation and promote a sense of well-being. Through a carefully curated soundscape of instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and chimes, the vibrations gently guide your brainwaves into a meditative state. This allows your mind to quiet, your body to release tension, and your spirit to connect to a deeper sense of peace. Unlike traditional meditation practices, sound meditation requires no prior experience and can be easily enjoyed by anyone. Each session is a unique journey, influenced by the instruments, the setting, and the collective energy of the participants, offering a personalized experience of healing and self-discovery.

About Sound Meditation

Michelle Karlebach, a certified sound practitioner, surrounded by crystal bowls at a corporate retreat

the approach

Each sound bath is a unique journey, crafted with intention and guided by intuition. I blend the ancient wisdom of sound healing with modern scientific understanding to create an experience that resonates with your mind, body, and soul. Through a symphony of crystal bowls, gongs, chimes, and drums, I guide you into a state of deep relaxation, where presence and experience merge.

Meet the Founder

My journey with sound healing began with a deep love for the natural world and a fascination with the subtle energies that connect us all. Decades of working with equines instilled in me a profound respect for the healing power of intuition and connection. This foundation led me to explore the world of plant medicine, where I spent a decade learning about the therapeutic properties of plants and their ability to facilitate healing and transformation. Along the way, I also became a Reiki 2 practitioner, further deepening my understanding of energy work and its potential to promote balance and well-being.

With a foundation rooted in a deep connection to nature and the subtle energies of the world around us, I'm now weaving together my diverse experiences into the practice of sound healing. My background working with animals, coupled with time exploring the realm of plant medicine, has instilled in me a profound respect for the body's innate wisdom and its capacity for healing.  Through my intense studies with Guy Beider at the Sound Medicine Academy, and my ongoing pursuit of the International Sound Therapy Association Practitioner Certification, I continue to deepen my knowledge and refine my skills as a sound healer. I believe that sound has the power to harmonize our bodies, minds, and spirits, creating a pathway to deep relaxation, emotional release, and inner peace.

When I'm not immersed in the world of sound, you can find me playing with my horse, Chello, my dogs, Princess and Henry, and my cats, Dorado and Peanut Butter. I love spending time in nature, indulging in my passion for crafting and making, and further exploring the craft of sound wellness. I believe that creativity and connection are essential ingredients for a balanced and fulfilling life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can sound meditation help with specific health conditions?

While sound meditation is not a substitute for medical treatment, it can be a complementary therapy for various health conditions, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and insomnia. Consult with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns.

What is the difference between sound meditation and other forms of meditation?

Sound meditation uses sound as the primary tool to guide you into a meditative state, while other forms of meditation may focus on breathwork, visualization, or mindfulness techniques.

What should I wear to a sound meditation?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax fully. You may also want to bring a blanket or pillow for added comfort.

What can I expect during a sound meditation session?

You'll typically lie down or sit comfortably in a quiet space. The practitioner will then play various instruments, creating a soundscape that washes over you in waves of vibration. You may feel a sense of deep relaxation, tingling sensations, or emotional release. It's a unique and personal experience, and there's no right or wrong way to feel.

Do I need any prior meditation experience?

No, sound meditation is suitable for all levels, including beginners. The sounds naturally guide you into a meditative state, so no prior experience is necessary.

Is sound meditation safe for everyone?

Sound meditation is generally safe for most people. However, if you have any health concerns, such as epilepsy, tinnitus, or sound sensitivity, it's advisable to consult with your healthcare provider before participating.

What if I fall asleep during a session?

It's perfectly normal to fall asleep during a sound meditation. The deep relaxation induced by the sounds can often lead to drowsiness. If you do fall asleep, your body and mind will still benefit from the experience.
